Class of 1984
Cracker Jack Sailors

Let’s Get On Board, Sailor Sisters!

This letter is your Call to Action by your Reunion Captains, Tiz and Nancy!  We invite each member of our fantastic ASC Class of 1984 to attend our milestone reunion.  Has it really been 40 years?!  We cannot wait to gather, share the many marvelous memories of our ASC days, and catch up.  Each and every one of you will make our “reunion weekend journey” complete and all the more festive!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Our reunion is set for April 19-21, 2024.  There are plenty of options and opportunities from which to choose based on your availability and budget.  Some classmates may arrive on Thursday, April 18.

REGISTER:  Registration opens Feb 1, 2024.  Please “chat up” your attendance via our Scottie FB page or directly with your closest ASC classmates to encourage other classmates to attend.

CELEBRATE AND PARTICIPATE:  As a reminder, it is best to reserve a hotel room NOW.  ASC has arranged reduced-rate rooms at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Decatur.  As there are a limited number of rooms reserved, Nancy and I would like emphasize the importance of making your overnight plans early. (Breakfast is included in your room rate.) Please contact anyone on the Class Officer list for assistance.

Here are some highlights of our Class of 1984’s campus and class events:

Friday, April 19

There will be the Outstanding Alumnae Awards Luncheon as well as the opportunity to attend classes and connect with faculty.

We will get this “boat rocking” with our Welcome Aboard Party on Friday evening at 6:30 pm. Kim Fortenberry Siegelson has graciously agreed to host our class at her home in Decatur for a plentiful and celebratory kick-off for our fabulous weekend together!

We will be showing a photo loop/video at this gathering.  A link to upload your favorite ASC shots will be sent in early 2024.

Saturday, April 20

We will continue our “reunion cruise” with our class meeting at 9:30 AM.  Anyone staying at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Decatur will have free breakfast at the hotel.  Remember to allow some extra time to grab your “rations” before heading over to the campus. There will be the Convocation, the multi-generational Class Parade, a catered luncheon, our Class Picture, Campus Tours, and more.  It will be a busy and exciting day!

We will “hit the waves” with THE Most Outrageously Fun Dance Party on Saturday evening on campus in the newly-renovated Campbell Hall (residence hall and classrooms). There will be a delicious dinner, terrific prizes (more details to follow) and the best “blast from the past” tunes provided by our very own “Captain of Good Music,” Leslie Miller.  Be ready to eat, drink, laugh, and dance your flip flops off!!  To keep the ‘84 Party Boat sailing on, Leslie has invited all of us to go to her house in Avondale Estates for more fun once the campus party-time is up.

Sunday, April 21

There are no “official” class or college plans on this day. We imagine meeting for breakfast or brunch in Decatur if there is interest and opportunity.

CONTRIBUTE:  We need “all hands on deck” to make this reunion weekend a “splashy success.” There are quite a few ways you can lend your talents, time, and donations to our adventure.

  • Please contact at least 4 close classmates to encourage them to attend. We need a full and festive cruise ship! Call, email, write, text, Facebook, or Instagram with your Scottie sisters to encourage them to plan to attend, make a hotel reservation, and register.
  • If you live in Decatur or Atlanta, please consider hosting a Scottie classmate for the overnight(s) if the need should arise. Our goal is to get as many 84ers there as we can. Friendly and easy accommodations may help that cause.
  • If you would like to help us make our special weekend have smooth sailing, consider volunteering to set-up or clean-up for Friday or Saturday nights. We would also be so appreciative to those classmates wishing to donate $ towards our Class of 1984 parties to help off-set the costs for all. (For example, one classmate is donating the cost of the beer and wine for Friday night.)
  • Finally, we are creating “Party Boat Door Prizes” and need your help. We will be giving away 5 baskets or boxes during the Saturday night party.  Suggestions are themed items such as a “Best Breakfast Ever Basket” (tea, coffee, mugs, and napkins), a “Let’s Hit the Beach Pail” (sunscreen, a paperback beach-read book, and a drinking cup with a straw), or an ASC-themed basket with Scottie pencils, a computer mouse pad, bumper stickers, etc.  If you have a talent to share such as art or candle-making, those would make great giveaways.  It’s really up to YOU.

We are so excited to connect with everyone. Reach out with any questions or needs regarding the Reunion Weekend.  This extra special gathering is a celebration of YOU and what Agnes Scott College meant to all of us.

Cheers to 40 years!

Call to action:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you click the link, you will need to edit the dates to the dates you actually plan to stay. The default is 4/18 – 4/20, which is Thursday and Friday Nights. Here are the steps to edit the dates:

  1. On the landing page – click Book Room
  2. This takes you to a choice of King Room or 2 Queens. At the top of this page on the right hand side, there is a link that says Edit Stay. Click here to change the dates.
  3. Click on one of the dates and it pulls up a calendar to allow you to change the length of your stay. Very important! Once you change the dates click the update button to the right of the date range. This will change the dates on the reservation and give you the ASC rate for all nights.
  4. From here, select your room type, enter your credit card, and complete your reservation.
    • Call all your friends and encourage them to attend. We want to see as many fellow Sailors as we can!
    • Give to The Fund for Agnes Scott in honor of our reunion. Any amount of donation is helpful to the college and counts towards our class goals.
    • Stay tuned to our Facebook page (Sailors: ASC Class of 1984) and email for updates and details over the coming months. If you aren’t getting email updates, please contact Fran Lemmen at franlemmen@gmail.com to be sure we have your current email.

Cheers to 40 years, Sailor Sisters! Hope to see you as we set sail!
