Class of 1972
Huckleberry Finn

Letter from Your President

Dear Sister Scotties,

It’s time for us to put the dates for our 55th reunion on our calendars: April 16-17! Save the date! We had such a great crowd for our 50th and such a wonderful dinner together. Now we are planning another party to celebrate another five years passing. We’ll have a fabulous dinner on Saturday night where we’ll have lots of stories and pictures to share. Friday there will be events planned on campus during the day for us, and Friday night, a party on campus for all classes. Saturday morning, we will meet together as a class and walk into Gaines with our Huck bandanas and fascinators. Our dinner Saturday night will be on campus on the lower floor of the library. Your reunion committee has been working hard planning our celebration. Next month you’ll be hearing from your reunion co-chairs, Nancy Thomas Tippins and Leslie Schooley Mathews, with a few more details about what we’ve planned.

You have been hearing from our hardworking fund chair, Paula Wiles Sigmon, throughout the last four years, while she has kept us informed about class giving. Look for another letter from Paula soon about our class gift to the college and give generously. Anne Kemble Collins has worked tirelessly as our secretary compiling our news which is published in Agnes Scott, The Magazine. The latest edition, Summer 2026, was sent to our emails recently, so if you haven’t had time to look at it, explore our news from the Class of 1972. Agnes Scott continues to win awards which make us proud. ASC is among the top 5% of colleges in the country for women according to a new Newsweek publication. The “America’s Best Colleges for Women” ranking highlights institutions that support gender equality and empower women.

Also, six Agnes Scott students were selected for Fulbrights in the 2025-2026 academic year. Consequently, Agnes Scott was named a Fulbright Top Producing Institution. Our college continues to give us many reasons to be proud Scotties. I hope each of you will be able to attend this 55th reunion. In the meantime, we are hoping to host two Zoom call/online parties for our class, one in November and one in February.  It’s been a while since we’ve been together online. Can’t wait to see all of you in April as we celebrate year 55!

Love to all,

Gigi Muirheid ‘72
