Class of 2004
Sirens

Dearest Sirens,

Happy New Year! When this missive makes its way across the seas to you, we’ll be just a few months away from marking twenty years since we left Agnes Scott. That’s two whole decades of charting new waters, making our mark on every corner of the world. But do you hear that sound? It’s the siren song of our dear ol’ Agnes, and it’s calling you home to celebrate with your sisters!

We hope by now you’ve started to make your plans to join us for Alumnae Weekend, April 19-20, 2024. The enclosed brochure will highlight details of the many special events planned. I want to call your attention to the Siren Soirée: 20 Years Under the Sea, our class party planned for Saturday night. Siren blue will flood The Hub in Alston as we take over for a night of celebration.

And this month, please mark your calendar for Thursday, January 25. That evening, Sirens will gather on Zoom to raise a glass at a Virtual Cocktail Hour. We’ll welcome a special guest from the College and share more details about Alumnae Weekend. We’ll also get the first look at some Siren Swag designed by our own Jill Carson and available to order that night!

Until then, I’ll echo fellow class officers’ calls to support the College with a gift in any amount, to pay forward the investment made in our class more than twenty years ago. I remember the way more seasoned alumnae would reminisce about their days at Agnes Scott when they visited campus for Alumnae Weekend and, yes, sometimes bemoan the ways things have changed. But what was true long before then remains: our beloved alma mater continues to educate students to “think deeply, live honorably, and engage in the intellectual and social challenges of their times.” Please join me in considering a special stretch gift in honor of our 20th reunion, to ensure current and future students will continue to make their mark like only Scotties can.

Yours in Siren and Scottie spirit,
Katie Schroder Hall
Reunion Chair

Fall President’s Letter

Dear Sirens,

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since we turned the quad blue in celebration of our final year at ASC? So much has happened in our lives since then, and I’m excited to reconnect with each of you at our upcoming 20-year reunion sharing in the joys, sorrows, and memories that have kept us connected to each other in ways that only fellow Scotties can understand.

A group of five Sirens enjoyed a visit to campus for Reunion Bootcamp a few months ago to begin preparations for Siren Soirée: 20 Years Under the Sea. They sampled and selected the menu for our class party and finalized details surrounding the weekend’s events. We promise you won’t want to miss out on the food, the entertainment, and the little surprises we have planned to make this reunion memorable. (Will we be able to resurrect a VHS tape of junior production? You’ll have to wait and see!)

Make plans now to attend Alumnae Weekend, April 19-20, 2024! The highlight of the weekend will surely be our class party on Saturday night, April 20: Siren Soirée: 20 Years Under the Sea. Be on the lookout for registration details and hotel blocks soon! A 2004 reunion committee is forming; if you have not yet expressed interest and would like to be involved in the planning, please email Katie Schroder Hall (Katie@KatieSHall.com). Also, watch for announcements about a virtual happy hour this fall/winter with special College guests, a reunion weekend preview, and a sneak peek at some Siren Swag.

On behalf of all your class officers, we are so grateful for the community our class has created over the years and the dedication you have shown to our alma mater in so many ways. If you haven’t yet made a gift this year, there’s still time before the reunion! You can either (1) make your gift online at give.agnesscott.edu; (2) mail it to Agnes Scott College c/o Office of Development, 141 E. College Avenue, Decatur, Georgia 30030; or (3) by calling the Office of Development at 404-471-6000.

We’re so excited to celebrate and reconnect this April. Can’t wait to see you there!
